Offshore Wind in the Atlantic: Growing Momentum for Jobs, Energy Independence, Clean Air and Wildlife Protection

Here in Virginia, the report finds a total 65.3 GW of wind potential in shallow water, 26.1 GW of which are commercially viable when environmental and other factors are taken into account. The report includes a chart for each state’s offshore wind resource, breaking down the data by water depth and distance offshore. The report was released jointly by more than 35 nonprofits in 12 states. Virginia co-sponsors included: Virginia Conservation Network, Environment Virginia, Sierra Club Virginia Chapter, and Chesapeake Climate Action Network. (Download full report)
