Welcome 2003 Virginia Environmental Assembly
October 24-26
Center in the Square Roanoke,
Virginia
Dear Conservationist:
On behalf of the Virginia Conservation Network
Board (VCN) and the Virginia Environmental
Assembly (VEA) planning committee, we invite
you to the annual Virginia Environmental
Assembly. The 2003 VEA will be in Roanoke the
weekend of October 25: it will be a beautiful
fall weekend! VEA provides an excellent
opportunity to network with other VCN member
organizations and with conservation-minded
citizens from around the state. The programs
provide an opportunity to gather both local and
statewide perspective on current environmental
issues.
The weekend kicks-off on Friday evening with a
welcome reception from 5:30-7:30 at Center in
the Square.
The VEA program will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a
plenary session featuring a legislators panel
addressing what is on the horizon with regard
to water, land use, and funding for the
environment. In the afternoon, the popular
breakout discussions will provide for in depth
discussion of the plenary session issues and
provide a few other interactive opportunities.
As always, many of our member organizations and
environmentally friendly businesses and
agencies will participate in our vendors
display and interaction area. On Sunday there
will be opportunities for hiking in a nature
preserve or on a Roanoke Valley Greenway.
All in all, it’s going to be an informative and
fun weekend for all who participate. The cost
is $25 (includes Friday reception) if you
register by Friday, October 17. After October
17, registration is $35. There is still exhibit
space available, so if your organization is
interested in having a table, please return the
exhibitor form as soon as possible.
Additional information about hotel
accommodations, program specifics, and
registration will soon be on the VCN website at
www.vcnva.org. If you have immediate questions
about the conference, please contact us at
ellenshepard@yahoo.com or by phone at
